What's the difference?

Last night, in the bathtub, we were briefly discussing the difference between boys and girls.

Aleaha clarified, "Boys have different potty spots. And they can't nurse because they don't have boobs. And they can't EVER pop a baby out."

I Spy

The "I Spy" books are perfect for Aleaha and Miri -- they are picture based (Aleaha doesn't feel pressured to truly read the words), and Miri is obsessive about them lately. We love that when she chases down Mommy or Daddy to read them with her, we can pawn her off to her big sister instead. Terrible? No, it's realistic. It takes a village, my darlin's, and that's part of what bein' in this village means.

Elvis is in the House (ok, Car)

We've been listening to some important classics in the car lately, namely The Beach Boys, The Beattles, and Elvis. For the last couple of mornings, Miri has been especially funny as she put on her sunglasses and snapped her fingers (sort of) along with the music.

Here's her Stevie Wonder impression:

An Interview with Miss Miri

Miri and Mommy had a quiet dinner alone together a couple of weeks ago, and it was an opportunity to record a bit of her verbalizations lately. She was a bit distracted but also bemused by the attention of the camera.

Here she answers a few questions about who is in her family, what she's eating for dinner, etc.

"Mimi" = Miri
"Juice" = Juice, her kitty
"Na-no-ah" = Noah, the name of one of Aleaha's classmates
Ay-YI-ya = Aleaha
"noose" = noodles
"pips" = peas
(and most others are understandable, for the most part)

Hangin' together

Just a few recent shots from mommy's phone....

Our car is a mobile playroom. Mommy purposely keep lots of stuff in there, within reach of the kiddos. It might be a cluttered car, but it functions and helps keep everyone happy during our many miles of commuting each day. There are some "essentials" in our way of being: sippy cups, check; binky, check... sunglasses (seasonally-dependent), stuffed animals, blankies, snacks, coloring books, wetwipes, extra clothes, check-check-check. Mommy can't believe that people can manage to have kids and their cars' backseats don't give it away. Where's all their stuff??

The wagon was used through the winter to help move and hold firewood. (Hey, we're a practical bunch, and it fit the need.) Finally we were able to put it back to its original purpose -- hauling kids! Aleaha pulled Miri all over the yard one afternoon, helping out with chores.

Aleaha gets the best laughs out of Miri. They can get a little rambuctious at times, but overall the happy squealing is worth it.

While running errands last weekend, two little ones "got all worn out." It's moments like these when mommy decides to take the long way home. :)
